If you’ve never raised a puppy or a kitten, the “how-to” information can be overwhelming. Even if you have experience with little ones or mature pets, ongoing research allows us to provide better care with new vaccine protocols and new products. Let us help!
We are offering a new service: Pre-adoption Appointments. Part of this service is a detailed discussion with our knowledgeable and experienced staff members to help you sift through all the details BEFORE you decide on that puppy or kitten! Some of our discussion topics are:
- Vaccination protocols (lifelong) – specifically tailored to your pet’s lifestyle
- Wellness/prevention care – what to expect at different life stages
- Contagious diseases/parasites
- Pet insurance
- Emergency preparedness
- Heartworm and flea/tick prevention
- Weight management
- Lifelong dental care
- Age-related changes
- Ear cleaning/nail trims/general grooming
- Adjusting to new household
- Pet toxins
- How to tell if your cat/dog is ill or in pain
These discussions may help plan your timing of adoption and possibly even what type of pet you choose. A large breed, highly energetic dog may not be the best choice (for you or the dog) if you live in a small apartment and often travel for work. Likewise, if you lead an active lifestyle and want a canine companion on the trails with you, a typically sedentary breed with respiratory difficulties wouldn’t be the right fit.
Some people adopt cats because they feel cats are typically more independent (read low-maintenance) than dogs, but did you know cats need exercise and personal interaction, too? What if you get a long-haired cat who needs grooming daily? What type of cat litter should you get, and how often should it be changed?
Call (843) 884-4921 now to take advantage of this new service to discuss the ins and outs of LIFELONG care for your pet. As part of this new service, you will receive a coupon for a Free Visit when you come back with your pet for the physical exam!
