***There has been a confirmed case of Canine Influenza H3N2 in Mt. Pleasant, SC.*** Please seek immediate medical attention if your dog shows respiratory signs or general malaise (feels blah, won’t eat, low energy). Use extreme caution when traveling to or accepting doggie visitors from the Midwest (particularly Chicago), Georgia (Atlanta) or Florida. This disease is highly contagious and difficult to diagnose. “Recently the number of ‘dog flu’ cases has risen dramatically shutting down at least one dog daycare in metro Atlanta. Up until a month ago a majority of the cases of dog flu had been limited to the Midwest, most specifically the Chicago area. But now the phrase dog flu is becoming a common one on message boards and social media.”
